About PowerPoint slides

Title slide and Normal slides

For the purpose of working with PowerTOC, PowerPoint® slides can be described as title slides and normal slides. PowerTOC considers slides selected from the PowerPoint layout called  Title Slide and Section Header to be title slides. All other slides are considered to be normal slides.

To override the default processing of slides

You can also override the default processing forcing a Title Slide to be treated a as normal slide, or a Normal Slide to be treated as a title slide for the purposes of laying out the table of contents.

Go to the slide you want to force to be treated as a title slide or a normal slide.
On PowerPoint 2007 click on the Set Title or Set Normal buttons of the PowerTOC tab of the ribbon bar.
On previous versions, click on the Tools menu of the PowerTOC toolbar, and then click on the Set Title or Set Normal menu items.

Entering text to be included in the table of contents

Slides contain title text frames into which you enter text that you want used in the table of contents. It is important to use the text frames as PowerPoint created them, so that PowerTOC can locate the proper entries.

For example, regardless of the slide type, click in the title and subtitle text frames to enter the text you want included in the table of contents.
