To show the Fields pane click on the 'Fields pane' button of the ribbon tab.
The fields pane
Fields are shown with the following icons:

Meaning |
The presentation contains at least a text (or conditional) field with this name. |
The associated data sheet contains a column named as this field. |
The presentation contains an image field with this name. |
The toolbar at the top of the fields pane is used to perform the following functions:

Read again all fields on the presentation and the associated data sheet (if applicable). |

Copy field |
Copy the selected field to the presentation. |

Copy conditional |
Copy the selected field to the presentation as a conditional field. |

Move to left |
Move pane to the left of the PowerPoint window (this button is only visible when the fields pane is aligned to the right of the PowerPoint window). |

Move to right |
Move pane to the right of the PowerPoint window (this button is only visible when the fields pane is aligned to the left of the PowerPoint window). |

Close pane |
Close the pane. To close the pane you can also click on the 'Fields pane' button on the ribbon tab |
