Control Runner main features
Control Runner is a very powerful product with many features, yet it is very easy to use.
It's more prominent features are presented below:
Tabs
Control Runner uses a tabbed interface. Each tab contains an user-defined number of program buttons (up to 80 per tab). There is no limit for the number of tabs you can use.
Program buttons
Program buttons store not only applications, but any item you can have on your computer:
Applications:
Documents and URLs:
Virtual items (non file-system):
To launch (execute and application, open a document or navigate to an URL) click on the corresponding program button.
Advanced launching options
You decide how do you want to launch an application; it's initial size: normal, minimized or maximized, and whether you want to prevent a second instance - if the program is already running, Control Runner looks for it and activates it for you.
Minimize to ... toolbar, traybar, hide. You choose
Usually programs minimize to the toolbar, leaving a button which restores the application when clicked. But Control Runner can automatically create a tiny tray icon for any application when it is minimized, or it can completely hide it (you can restore it back from a list).
Tray Menu
From it's own tray icon menu you can acess your desktop icons, control panel settings, printers installed and screen resolutions. You can also restore previously hidden windows.
You can even have a selected number of applications or documents available in a quick launch submenu of the tray menu.
Versatile
Every aspect of Control Runner operation is configurable through a seven page configuration dialog.
Skinnable
Don't you like the appearance of Control Runner? Change it's skin and get a completely different Control Runner. Several high-quality skins are included in the evaluation version and you can get some more right here.
Security options
Control Runner can become locked (no changes of buttons allowed) or protected (no access to the configuration dialog). This makes it an excellent choice for restricted access systems.
Hot keys
You can define hot keys that will activate Control Runner hide current window, pop-up the tray menu at the current cursor position or make the current window stay on top of all other windows.
